Hyered is representing a well-established, independent international music publishing company seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join its New York-based finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a strong accounting foundation and an interest in the music/entertainment sector to step into a broad, hands-on role with clear progression potential toward senior management. The position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, financial operations, and operational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse financial statements across multiple entities, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for banking and certified reporting
- Create and maintain consolidated trial balances in Excel for quarterly financial reporting
- Partner with the CFO on quarterly and year-end financial statements and cash flow reporting
- Prepare monthly flash reports using consolidated budgets, prior-year results, and current month performance
- Update flash reports to produce final consolidated operating statements
- Analyse budget vs actual variances and produce financial forecasts
- Prepare annual budgets by consolidating departmental and subsidiary budgets
- Act as a key point of contact for auditors, providing schedules, documentation, and transaction explanations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and relevant regulatory requirements
- Manage and report on royalty payments, ensuring accurate calculation and timely distribution
- Prepare local tax filings
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 2–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, ideally within music, media, or entertainment
- Previous experience at Senior Accountant level or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
